WHAT IS ULTRAS ?

Ultras is taken from Latin which means ‘out of habit’. The ultras never stopped singing the chants of their team’s national anthem during the match. They are also willing to stand throughout the match (because countries famous for their ultras such as Argentina and Italy, provide standing stands in one corner of their stadium). In addition, ultras are most happy to set off fireworks or firecrackers in the stadium because it is driven to seek attention, that they are present in the crowd of people in the stadium.

“As an ultra I identify myself with a particular way of life. We are different from ordinary supporters because of our enthusiasm and excitement. This means, obviously, rejoicing and suffering much more acutely than everybody else”.

An excerpt from a member of the Brigate Rossonere, one of AC Milan’s ultras, helps us to recognize the ultras phenomenon. Ultras is not just a collection of ordinary supporters (tifosi) but a fanatical and militant group of supporters who truly identify with all their passion and deeply involve their emotional side in the club they support.

Ultras pioneered highly organized supporters with a ‘theatrical’ style of support which then spread to other countries. The model has now become so dominant in France, and arguably has had an influence on the Danish ‘Roligans’ supporters, several groups of Dutch national team supporters and even the Scottish ‘Tartan Army’ supporters.

The model is renowned for putting on spectacular performances including coordinated costumes, flying of various flags, giant banners & pennants, colorful smoke bomb displays, flares and even laser beams and choreographed songs and chants, led by a CapoTifoso who uses megaphones to guide the game.

In the calcio tradition, ultras are “barons” in the stadium. They occupy and control one side of the stadium stands, usually behind the goal, which is then commonly known as the curva. The Ultras occupied one of those curves, either nord (north) or sud (south), consistently for years to come. Utras from different clubs are placed on opposite curves. In addition, a unique game rule applies, namely that the police are not allowed to be on either side of the curve.

The first Ultras group that was born was (the late) Fossa dei Leoni, a group of supporters of the AC Milan club, in 1968. A year later supporters of the city and rival club, Internazionale Milan, created a rival, namely Inter Club Fossati which later changed its name to Boys SAN (Squadre d’Azione Nerazzurra). The ultras phenomenon had subsided and reappeared to inspire the world with its grandiose acts in the mid-1980s.

The ultras phenomenon itself was inspired by the demonstrations carried out by young people at a time of political uncertainty in Italy in the late 1960s. As a result, ultras are actually political sympathies and ideological representations. Each ultra has a different ideological base and political stream, even though they support the same club. Ultras have a role in “preserving” old ideas such as fascism and communism, socialism.

The majority of tensions between supporters are caused by differences in ideological choices rather than differences in favorite clubs. Fortunately, in the Ultras tradition in Italy there is a code of ethics called the Ultras codex. One of the functions of the code of ethics is to “regulate” the battle between ultras to be more fair and “cultured”. One of those ethics is in terms of proof of victory, the flag of the losing ultras will be taken by the winning ultras. Another code of ethics is that no matter how bad the tifosi have experienced the cruelty of other tifosi, they are not allowed to report to the police.

Today, ultras are often seen as a continuation or legacy of a period of political uncertainty and violence from the 1960s to the 1970s. The similarities in their behavior are cited as evidence of this connection. These similarities are evident in the singing of songs – which are generally composed of traditional communist songs – the waving of flags and ensigns, heartfelt allegiance to the group and changing allies with other ultras, and, of course, participation in chaos and violence both between themselves and against the police. !

Ultras are a group of supporters, but they are very fanatical about the team they support.. They always raise the banner of the greatness of the team they support.. They are not ordinary supporters who just sit and stay in the stadium. but they are attractive, always sing songs for the team, carry a big flag to the stadium, carry a red flare, display a big banner in the stadium, display coreography and one important thing. ..”

they are classified as supporters who are extreme in their actions (HARI LINE).. they also have their own political ideology that they adhere to, such as Left-wing or Right-wing Politics.. Left-wingers tend to be extreme in their actions, while those on the Right are still obedient. rules, gag is too extreme when acting..

oia, Ultras usually have their own base in the Stadium,.

as Ultras in Europe, they always fulfill the goal bacline of tribune …

maka’a their designation is the Curva Sud / Curva Nord (Sud = South, Nord = North) .. gag never any mention Est and Curva Curva Covest ..

Ultras itself has the code of ethics among Ultras.. that is, they fight it’s an open fight.. to seize the banner/flag which is the symbol of an Ultras group.. in that fight, they are prohibited from involving the police, because the police are HARAM.. ACAB (All Cops Are Bastard)

Curva / Tribune for Ultras, POLICE can’t enter..
